The Effingham Performance Center has joined area art teachers to continue an annual event in the Effingham community, although this year’s event will look a different than past events to meet social distancing guidelines.  The Effingham Art Guild’s Children’s Art Show, which is normally held at the Effingham Public Library, was unfortunately canceled due to circumstances surrounding Covid-19.  However, area art teachers approached The EPC to determine if they could work together to create an art exhibition to display students’ artwork.  By using the digital sign in front of the theater, a slide show of artwork, which will include the student’s name and grade, will run on a continuous loop 24 hours a day from May 7 until the end of the month. The images from the sign can be viewed by parking in the theater’s main lot or in the overflow lot across the street from the theater.

Many parents have been asking about Theatre Camp for this summer, and to be honest, we do not have an answer for you at this time! We love theater camp, and we care about our campers health and well being. We will wait to see what area school districts decide to do this school year, and we will look to other summer camp programs for guidance. We will keep everyone updated, as we learn more!

Our staff is working with performers and tours to determine how to best move forward with our March and April shows.  As you can imagine, a lot of work goes in on both our side and the performer's side to determine dates and routing that work for both the artist and for the venue.

We appreciate your continued patience, as we determine whether shows should continue as scheduled or whether we should postpone shows to future dates.  These decisions are not made lightly, and like you, we want all of these great performers to come to Effingham.

We will continue to update our website and Facebook when information is made available.

The Effingham Performance Center is committed to the health and well-being of our community. We are closely monitoring the status of COVID-19 and following the recommendations of our medical community and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As many are aware, Governor Pritzker has announced restrictions for larger events, including concerts. At this time, we believe only a few of our events will be affected by these restrictions, and our staff will be working with ticket holders to provide information, as it is made available.
Like many across the country, we are concerned about how the virus is affecting our community, and we are relying on facts to determine the best course of action, as we take the necessary precautions to mitigate risk.

A few steps we are proactively taking include:

  • Increasing efforts and frequency in disinfecting all spaces
  • Increasing the number of hand sanitizer dispensers throughout our building
  • Educating our employees and volunteers on preventative measures provided by the CDC
  • Encouraging our patrons to follow the guidelines provided by the CDC

Please follow these best practices to keep yourself and others healthy:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after visiting the restroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, or touching your face.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then discard the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
  • Keep disinfectant with you as a precaution and take advantage of the sanitizer provided throughout our lobby.
  • If you feel unwell, please stay home.
