Show / Event Description
Ty Pennington is an Emmy Award-Winning Television Personality and Home Makeover Guru known for television shows including "Trading Spaces" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
Pennington established his reputation as a home improvement expert after earning a degree in graphic design and working as a carpenter to support his education. He began his career in modeling, appearing in print ads and television commercials, and later worked as a set production assistant on the Academy Award-winning film "Leaving Las Vegas."
Pennington's breakout role came as a carpenter on "Trading Spaces" on TLC, a home decorating series where neighbors transformed rooms in each other's homes with a limited budget and time. His popularity on the show led to his selection as the host of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on ABC, a philanthropic home renovation series. The show became widely popular, earning Pennington national recognition and two Primetime Emmy Awards. During his tenure, he contributed to the rebuilding of more than 200 homes.
Outside of television, Pennington partnered with Sears in product design, development, merchandising, and advertising, and served as ambassador for the Sears American Dream Campaign. He authored "Ty's Tricks: Home Repair Secrets plus Cheap and Easy Projects to Transform Any Room," which became a New York Times bestseller, and "Good Design Can Change Your Life," offering design inspiration and advice.
Pennington has hosted several other television programs, including ABC's talk show "The Revolution," TNT's "On the Menu" with Emeril Lagasse, and Food Network's "American Diner Revival" with Amanda Freitag. He also participated in the revival of "Trading Spaces" on TLC and has appeared on HGTV shows such as "Battle on the Beach" and "Rock the Block."
Throughout his career, Pennington has advocated for individuals with ADHD, sharing his personal experiences and supporting awareness of effective treatments. He has also contributed to volunteerism and affordable housing initiatives, working with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and serving as ambassador for the Sears American Dream Campaign. Pennington's career highlights the impact of creativity, craftsmanship, and community engagement in the home improvement and design industry.
